The Visual Arts Center is a vibrant collaboration and exhibition space, in which members of a diverse art community have the opportunity to participate by lending their generous support. Drawing together a unique community of students, alumni, faculty, guest artists and creative voices, the Visual Arts Center is a hub for art education and innovation right in the center of The University of Texas at Austin.
The VAC opened its doors in September 2010, transforming the Department and the Austin art scene. That inaugural year, the VAC kept a robust exhibition and public programming schedule, averaging over 100 visitors a day and hosting more than one thousand guests at its opening season celebrations. Continued success requires generous support.
Philanthropic donations sustain VAC activities, including the dynamic multi-gallery exhibition programs, informative lectures and alumni panels, and guest artist visits that provide hands-on educational experiences for students. Gifts at all levels are appreciated - from vital investment in operating expenses, to annual underwriting support, to special programmatic support through the Visual Arts Center Endowment as a Founding Donor.
Foundational commitments of $25,000 or higher will be recognized on our permanent donor wall and annual support at the $1,000 level and above is acknowledged at the entrance to the VAC. Select naming opportunities are also available for a number of superior exhibition spaces within the Visual Arts Center. Partnerships with local businesses and organizations are always welcome to support public programming and special events.

Internships
Interns are an integral part of the Visual Arts Center and are valued for the variety of skills and knowledge they bring to our space. During their time at the VAC, interns have the opportunity to do a variety of projects, ranging from planning a special event to installing a contemporary art piece to designing posters and brochures. Keeping with the mission of the VAC as a working learning environment, interns work hands-on with the staff to create meaningful and lasting experiences.
VAC internships are 10 hours a week and last for one year. The internships are unpaid, but the benefits, in addition to experience, include exposure to a wealth of information about the contemporary arts community, locally and internationally. Internships are open to undergraduate and graduate students currently enrolled at The University of Texas at Austin and may be applied as course credit.
The following positions are currently available:
- Curatorial Administrative Intern
- Education/Public Programming Intern
- Events Intern
- Design Intern
- Marketing and Public Relations Intern
