For a long time, I have searched for a word to describe the work I want to make. Recently, I have come to the conclusion that this word is loss. I create in a variety of media, including painting and printmaking, and the loss of time, place, people, and culture is constantly on my mind. I am intrigued by the times and places I can no longer visit; the stories of my family and their histories that have died with them. I create as a way to depict places and emotions that no longer exist, and in remembrance of my family's past as we move further away in time from our diasporic roots.
