Ancient Art History Survey: Collaborative Scroll

Impression of Hand, Paleolithic period, ca. 30,000–20,000 BCE. Painting. Source: DASE / Batterberry, Ariane Ruskin, Prehistoric art and ancient art of the Near East, 1971.
Over 200 students in Dr. Nassos Papalexandrou’s Ancient Art History Survey course (ARH 302) have joined forces to create a collaborative piece celebrating world art from Prehistory to circa 1500 CE. A large continuous “scroll” will showcase students' creative expressions as they reflect on what inspired them, what they have learned, and their own observations, questions or comments about this period of art history and archeology.
Organized by Nassos Papalexandrou, faculty, Art History
This exhibition is part of Fieldwork Projects, a series of dynamic collaborations between faculty and students in the Department of Art and Art History that take on various forms and enable the ideas and processes developed in the classroom to be brought into the public sphere.
