Advanced Print Workshop presents Latent Decay, an exhibition featuring multimedia artists exploring the dual meaning of its title. “Latent” refers to the subconscious ideas and questions that emerge in visual art when artists release the simultaneous acts of creation and analysis. “Decay” is reimagined not as deterioration, but as a positive force of transformation—a process wherein forms can crumble and regenerate into something new. Through this lens, Latent Decay examines both external and internal spaces as sites of contemplation and metamorphosis.

This exhibition is part of Fieldwork Projects, a series of dynamic collaborations between faculty and students in the Department of Art and Art History that take on various forms and enable the ideas and processes developed in the classroom to be brought into the public sphere.

Latent Decay is organized by Annie May Johnston, Assistant Professor of Practice in Print, Print Area Head, Chair of the Guest Artist in Print Program, and Faculty Sponsor of the UT Riso Room.
