VAC Family Day: Dia de los Ninos Around the World

Free and Open to the Public
Parking is available in the San Jacinto Parking Garage
The VAC is excited to present an all-ages family day event titled Dia de los Ninos Around the World, in conjunction with Austin Public Library’s Art Smart Cultural Programs, presented by artist M.A. Ambray Gonzales.
Drop by the VAC for two activity sessions, starting at 1:15 and 3:00, featuring shadow puppetry performance, draw-along, and rod-puppet-making workshops. Guests will take their creations home after each activity session. Bring the whole family, your imagination, and drawing caps!
Art supplies, light bites, and refreshments provided.
About Austin Public Library's Art Smart Cultural Programs
Love art? Let’s be Art Smart and explore various ethnic arts, art media, and techniques through family-oriented art experiences for all ages and generations. Combining folktale storytelling, shadow puppetry, dance, singing, poetry, drumming, and art activities, the Art Smart Cultural Programs are traveling presentations held in branch libraries, museums, and schools, reaching approximately 10,000 students and participants annually.
About the Artist
M.A. Ambray Gonzales works as an educator and contributor to the Arts in Austin and is an alumnus from the University of Texas, class of 1981. She has created monumental public sculpture and murals for Art in Public Places, served as co-director for the Mexic-Arte Museum, taught youth art classes at Laguna Gloria, and performed regularly with the Austin Public Library Puppetry Program: Literature Live. Currently, she creates and presents Art Smart Cultural Programs for the Austin Public Library Youth Outreach Team.
