Join Melissa Fandos, curator of Abby Flanagan: To Move Through Stone, and Shay Hlavaty, Communications and Outreach Manger at the Barton Springs Edwards Aquifer Conservation District, for a walking tour of the Edwards Aquifer along the Barton Creek Greenbelt.
Together, we’ll examine the karst limestone that forms the aquifer and shapes our natural environment, learn about the delicate balance of groundwater and surface water that sustains it, and collect a small sample of materials that make up the landscape.
Please note that this walk is approximately two miles long and includes sections of uneven terrain. Please bring water and a snack.
Meet at the Violet Crown Trailhead. This is the trailhead at the southwest corner of the Barton Springs parking lot. It is marked with a large steel circle sign.
