The Modern Cowboy: Artist Conversation & Performance

Join us for a conversation with the artist Felice House, whose painting Weiling Eastwood, 2013, is featured in The Modern Cowboy.

Center Space Project’s student-curated group exhibition, The Modern Cowboy, brings together eleven artists working across mediums to explore Austin’s social, cultural, and political histories through the lens of cowboy mythology and iconography. Co-curator Mia Johnson will be in conversation with Felice House to discuss the artist’s figuration of women cowboys which provide a counterpoint to historical, cultural, and art historical narratives. The conversation will last 45 minutes.

Musician Tommy Gomez of Fixed Idea will open and close the conversation with live music inspired by the traditions of the cowboy.
