By virtue of existing alongside us, art is relational. My paintings are a physical communion with the strange, the spiritual, and the otherworldliness of beauty. When I work, I observe the natural world and translate vanishing moments of grace to the painted canvas. The world speaks to me visually, and I respond visually—unconstrained and harmonious, in an expression similar to worship. The resulting work is vibrant and peaceful, yet evocative. Beauty opens us up to a dynamic, dreamlike reality where the self is fully present. When beauty strikes the spirit, we draw closer to the things that are eternally significant. In shadowing the transcendent, and creating from it an interpretable object, my work departs its context in pursuit of an abiding reality.
